Whether you just fancy a change, have moved into a new build property with a dauntingly blank canvas, or moved into a house that you have inherited design ideas that are not to your taste; it can sometimes feel like a monumental task to decipher what you want to do with any space.
Home renovations bring many decisions, from choosing a layout that maximises the space to choosing the perfect paint colours or soft furnishings; this can all feel very overwhelming and become stressful, time consuming and expensive if things don't go to plan. Planning all of this in advance of a project commencing can keep you one step ahead in the decision making and make you feel more in control of the process.
If you feel unsure about how to maximise your space and really make the most out of it or you are unsure of how to convert your ideas into reality, then involving a designer at an early stage can prove extremely beneficial.
Every project and every client is different, so the services we offer vary to ensure that you get the assistance you need. Plans and budgets are discussed at the first meeting, allowing us to create your own bespoke package.
The following services are an idea of the levels of involvement that can be included in your package.
Guidance Services
You may have already started a project or have ideas of what you want to achieve but feel you want some guidance or reassurance that your project is heading in the right direction.
This service is chargeable by the hour (2 hour minimum charge) and can be used to discuss paint colours, the layout of a room or how to accessorise.
Consultation Services
This package is designed to assist with smaller projects that may have a specific issue or a single area that needs work. The outcome of this package would be concept ideas, digital mood boards and suggested layouts.
A set price would be agreed for this package
and is usually based on the scale of the project
and how much assistance is required.
Full Design Services
This package is tailored to your requirements and can include consultations, concept building and mood boards, costings, specifications, detailed drawings, 3D visuals, site visits, and project management through to completion.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process?
Initially, we would have a brief phone call to discuss your project and I would explain the process to you.
Following the initial call, we would book an in-depth meeting to discuss your likes, dislikes and aspirations for the space. This would usually take between 1-2 hours depending on the size and complexity of your project. From the information gathered, I would create a proposal for your project including all the details taken throughout the meeting.
If you are happy with the proposal and wish to proceed, I would then carry out a
detailed survey of the room or rooms included in the project.
Following the room survey, I would produce a design scheme for you; this would outline my ideas for your new space showing the layout of the room, colour schemes including paint and wallpapers, and ideas for furniture and fixtures. We would book an additional meeting to discuss the design to ensure that you are happy with it and make any necessary tweaks.
Following this meeting, I would produce the final design which would include a fully labelled, to scale drawing.
How much does this service cost?
Prices vary depending on the number of rooms in the scope, their size, and the complexity of your project.
However, as a guide only, the hourly rate for guidance services is £40 per hour (2 hour minimum charge). Generally, packages will always be more cost effective than the hourly guidance services, especially for larger projects.
Who will work on my project?
Some clients are happy to carry out the decor work themselves or have previously worked with trades people who they wish to re-employ. Always seek professional advice for electrical, gas, plumbing and structural work.
If you wish to contract out the build and trade services, then I would be happy to work with you and recommend local companies to provide a quote.
